Thinking new

Influenster

Influenster

I was a Product Designer for Meta Reality Labs, working on creating experiences for a new hardware product.

As this work is confidential I will not be able to show project visuals. However, I can provide a brief overview, read below.

My Role

I owned multiple projects and collaborated with other Product Designers, Content Designers, User Researchers, Program Managers, Product Managers, Engineers and Design leadership.

I designed new features and created iterations of existing feature proposals to improve them based on ongoing learnings and shifting needs.

Additionally, I designed alongside the systems team to finalize a design system. We created detailed documentation on how to correctly use the system so that the broader team could adapt and design more efficiently.

Process

I used my strengths as an end-to-end designer when creating this new product. I started with design thinking, concepting, storytelling user journeys, crafting product requirements and coordinating with other team members on priorities. I worked closely with a Product Manager, Content Designer and UX Researcher to ensure our project proposals are beneficial for the user and meet business goals.

Once a feature set has been scoped out, I worked on the UX flows and considered all edge cases and influencing factors on how the user might interact with this product in their daily life. I created journeys through high fidelity designs and quick prototypes and presented to leadership to get feedback for future iterations.

I worked closely with Engineers who implement our designs onto the hardware product and bring this vision to life. Once the designs are on the product, we iterated and adapted together as we learned more during internal testing.

After finalizing P0 work, I moved to what's next on the roadmap in order to make the product launch date.

Key Challenges

Working on a pre-launch hardware product can present interesting challenges. We created experiences that have to be quickly adapted to changing environments and real time learnings. However, all of the work we created is extremely innovative and these challenges present us with opportunities to push the product further.
